Lab Clean Policy
- Weekly time is set aside for lab clean and maintenance. The doors will be unlocked. No processing shall be performed during lab clean, except for sputtering.
- At least one staff member will be available in the lab during the clean. That person is there to advise and retrieve any needed supplies.
- In case of an emergency, contact staff in charge as soon as possible for assessment of the situation.
- Lab cleans are to be done between 8AM and 10AM every Thursday morning (except holidays). It will take one (1) hour to do a reasonably thorough job, and thus you should show up NO LATER THAN 9AM.
- You are responsible for checking the lab clean schedule for your assignments, posted for each month on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the laboratory.
- If you miss a lab clean or fail to complete the entire lab clean task, you must participate in the next scheduled lab clean. Failure to participate in this program can result in loss of access to user privileges.
- If you cannot make your scheduled clean time, it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement in your absence and inform the staff in charge of the lab cleans, Brian Baker, Tim Jones, or Erin Phillips.
- If your replacement does not show, the miss will still be charged to you.
- If you have knowledge of a previous commitment prior to the month of lab clean, please contact Erin Phillips to make scheduling arrangements.
- Checklists describing the cleaning task for the different areas are located in the Lab Clean Notebook in the gowning area and also on the website. The tasks should be completed in the order listed.
- It is your responsibility to learn the task for the area you have been assigned. Student mentors and/or staff should teach the new students how to perform the assigned tasks.
- When you finish your cleaning duties, sign-out in the Lab Clean notebook and return the task checklist to the designated location in the gowning area.
